Machinery guards protect the worker and the working environment from both immediate and temporary risks.
Immediate risks are, for example, the breaking of a bit, flying debris and the danger of working accidents such as the crushing or cutting of limbs. Temporary risks are poor air quality, high noise levels and a general atmosphere which feels unsafe. The most important goal of protection is to ensure the safety of the worker, whilst still taking into account working procedures in the choice of device. Renovation of a good milling machine is sometimes unavoidable.
The machine may be well suited to the production of a particular article and the procurement of a new machine may be financially impossible. Machine guards are a viable option when tightening occupational health legislation requires greater protection for workers.
Standard guards are suited to machines which are for the most part used to machine individual or a small number of items. These are, for example, manual lathes, floor drills, grinding machines and milling machines.
Special guards are suited to situations where a standard device is not an option. The device is made to measure according to the demands of the situation.
